Rick and Cindy J., missionaries in Barbados, are praising God for the wonderful week of events with the students from International World Changers. Cindy highlights the following pictures and stories to describe how God used these workers to His glory.
"I am very excited to share with you about our wonderful week of World Changers, yet I am also struggling with how to do so in a clear, concise, way because we saw God do SO many things! We are giving Him so much praise because He truly answered all of the prayers for the week.
PRAISES:
We certainly give thanks to ALL the wonderful team members who worked SO hard to make this week happen.
Ministry teams:
Four of the teams went into primary schools where they did recreation with the children and also assisted in the classroom. It really depended on what the teachers wanted or needed each day. We think this is VERY important because the children get acquainted with teenagers who have an active faith and a daily walk with God. They are such great role models!!
In addition to working with children, several teams joined together to paint two buildings of Society Primary School – inside and out, plus the principal's office! A giant task but they finished it completely.
Two teams did walking evangelism and on Wednesday night led youth services in two local Baptist churches.
The teams were wonderful testimonies for Jesus Christ both on the streets, and in the schools and college. Each team worked HARD all week and gave their absolute best!
At our final worship service, we praised God that the Gospel was shared in Barbados 515 times, 150 individuals prayed to receive Christ ,and $1,083.60 was raised for missions. We praise God and give Him the glory for everything He did through His people!
REQUESTS:
Thank you for the HUGE part you had in this week by praying for it so faithfully!"
Blessings,
Cindy and Rick J.
Rick and Cindy J., resident missionaries of Barbados, are gearing up for the student volunteers to arrive this summer for International World Changers. Below are their specific prayer requests for the upcoming weeks.
June 6 - "Our four summer missionaries travel to Barbados. Katie, Ashlei, Reed and Ian will be helping us with World Changers both here and in St. Vincent and will do follow up. We learned from last year how crucial it is to include time for that!"
Rick and Cindy J of Barbados request prayer for the following:
"Please begin to pray for our week of International World Changers, June 13 – 20. Pray for all the preparations we are making here in Barbados as well as the ones made in the U. S. churches from which the youth groups will travel. Also, pray for the staff, cooks and adult sponsors as they get ready to come for this important week."
Thank you for remembering this vital work for the Lord! We appreciate you bathing these volunteers in prayer, and for Rick and Cindy, the missionaries who will work with the youth.

"It is that time again when the International World Changers sends out its leadership teams to plan for summer of 2009! Rick and Cindy J. feel very blessed to have Patrick and Chad to lead in Barbados during the week of June 13 - 20. We are expecting 86 young people with their adult sponsors to move into the Barbados Baptist College for that week and allow God to change this island through them. The participants for the International World Changers will be coming from seven churches in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, and New Mexico.
During a recent trip to Barbados, the team met with pastors of various Baptist churches to see if they would like a ministry team to work with their congregation. The four pictured here were very excited about the possibilities.
Patrick was invited to preach at First National Baptist and he brought a very inspirational message. Chad has a wonderful heart for serving people. Both of these young men are dedicated to serving Christ and we know God is going to use them in a mighty way in Barbados!"
May God find his workers hearts filled with joy in their humble service to Him.

As the women traveled, they discussed ministry options, and the groups who could possibly travel to Barbados to implement these ministries. Many smiles and conversations took place between the women and Bajan people. One day they traveled through the rains that were washing through the streets and flooding the foundations of the homes. Many young people were in on the streets looking for something to fill their time. The men occupied the rum businesses. The Baptist churches they visited were small in attendance but dedicated to their purpose.
Joyce and Brenda's prayers were specific. They prayed God would open the hearts of the people so they would be receptive to Him. They asked for God's divine hand on Rick and Cindy's ministries. They prayed for Rick's trip to the US as he visited the churches and colleges who will visit Barbados for special ministries beginning in March. They sought guidance from God for these groups as they prepare for their trips to Barbados to work among the people. During their evening devotions, Joyce and Brenda asked God for clear direction, as to possible ministries for the people, and for Him to take their thoughts and use them in an active way.
Joyce replied, "Being there and praying as a team was meaningful and strengthened our Christian lives here at home. Barbados is such a beautiful place created by God - a place where one felt so close to God."

The students continued to evangelize neighborhoods and the young man (Akeem) decided to follow…listening to the things that the students shared. When the crew stopped at a park, Katie, a volunteer, was conversing with Akeem and found out that his mother had died. She knew Kevin had also lost his mother, so she asked Akeem if he would like to talk with him. When Akeem heard Kevin explain God's plan for his life, he decided to invite Jesus into his heart and to follow Him! Isn't it wonderful how God used the entire World Changers crew for His glory and for His purpose!
